'Niagra Fly-in' by Spinnaker

Georgeous dusk fly-by on a TDM charter flight of the great Niagra Falls in our Beech King Air 300. The flood lights have just been turned on to present a spectacular view to TDM's flying guests.

Separating Canada and the United States, vacationers take in the entire panorama of this spectacular wonder of the world. Looking closely, one can see how the Niagra river splits and crashes down both the American and the Canadian horseshoe falls, the Maid of the Mist cruiser as it dangerously ferries sightseeing on-lookers close to the American falls, the observation tower where millions over the years have walk out to witness the breathtaking view, Skylon Tower with it's revolving restaurant and observation deck (See the elevator heading toward the top with more vacationers!!), and Rainbow bridge which allows motorist a glimpse of natures magic as they cross.

This is truly a magnificent sight that our TDM guests will never forget.

NEWS :

Well the change over to the new site is complete except for some missing links and some other anomalies which we'll be working on over the coming days. The reason for this is that although this is a completely new site geographically the Domain name was transferred from the old to the new. This meant that not all the 'new' links could be finally tested as the old site was still being (and still can be) found. Don't worry nothing will be lost but you may have to be patient for a little while if you are looking for an 'older' file.

The new site promises better capacity, bandwidth and facilities for the future, so watch this space......

Prompted by an article in the Island Breezes, thanks JC ;-) we are releasing the TDS AI package created months ago and never finished. Sheesh....

It remains beta because the scenery elements probably need some work and with the earlier release of the new Tradewind terminals at the scenery page these would be better used. That said working perfectly well are the 4 TDS AI aircraft the AFCADs and the flights.

These landing areas are :-

TDS1 - Willemstad Harbour - 125.1

TDS2 - Aruba Harbour - 127.4

TDS3 - Bonaire Harbour - 128.7

TDS4 - Grand Rogue Harbour, El Gran Roque, Venezuela - 126.1

In addition there are some dummy locations.

There are options included so it is important that you read the docs

Ops News :

Flight Tech Department

The eagle eyed (not too inebriated - actually that doesn't leave too many of you does it?) amoungst you will have noticed quite a bit of FDE tweaking going on. Well we have Karl Hajek, and his real world experience and access to aircraft operating manuals (AOMs) to thank for that.

With the Flight Technical Section being operational you can expect quite a few changes in the TCA NG fleet, among other things:

- accurate seat / cargo bay trim

- schematic cabin configuration views with most a/c types (so you can see what trim influence that fat guy in row 14 really has ;-) )

-upgraded / modernized panels (where necessary)

Of course all this is a major step forward so the changes will be gradually done rather than happen overnight, in the end , however, there will be one of the most realistic and real-life accurate fleets ever seen.

There that should have mixed Karl a fairly large bottle. Even better because you'll be able to email him at his secret Austrian hill top hut too ;-) Karl will be happy to answer damn fool questions about most things but he'd prefer that you stick to FDE related stuff. Flight Tech Dept

The January Screenshot Competition has started slowley I have to say ;-)

Come on da crew you're not shy are you? So far only 11 entries, half way through the month.

Why not use Recorder Module 1.3 by Matthias Neusinger? This makes setting up screenshots very easy.

This module can record flights, save them to files and play them back like the FS instant replay and flight video recorder, but with a lot more features. The module does NOT record video files (like .avi), it records data like aircraft position, speed, etc, so the recordings can only be played inside FS. This has the advantage, that you can watch your recordings from different views. It also allows to play recordings as AI traffic, which e.g. allows flying in formation with yourself. Additionally it includes advanced view features for the tower and spot views. Main features: recording flights of unlimited length - replay - recording of AI traffic - play recordings as (AI) traffic - jumping/searching forward/backward during playback - playback control via keyboard or control window - loop part of a recording - change playback speed - custom keyboard controls - recorded data is customizable (available are throttles, control surfaces, gear, flaps, spoilers, lights, engines on/off, propeller/mixture, nav and com radios, date/time, smoke) - multiple tower/spot/VC views - optional manual panning of tower/spot view direction - automatic zooming - saving/loading sets of tower/spot/VC views

Tradewind enters the Next Generation

After many months and plenty of hold ups Tradewind moves nearer to it's 'Next Generation' format. We have much more to do but we decided that you have waited long enough and we thank those of you who have been patient and supportive through the process. The fancy website will come later but for now we introduce the new 'Corporate image' and Departmental liveries via a simple website front page. The aircraft liveries reflect the Department identities shown below.

Rest assured that in the background there is still plenty going on and we need you to continue to be patient with us. For now you will have access via the panel above to the new fleet which will be increased over time, the Flight Report System, the Schedules and regular updates ~ although for now they might not be as regular as you had become used to.

Additionally we are introducing AI packages, in the new liveries of course, and via the hangar link you will have access to the first of these, Tradewind Caribbean, Tradewind Domestic and Tradewind Logistics. It is important that you follow the instructions carefully and before long your virtual skies will be filled with Tradewind NG Aircraft.

We know that many of you miss all the tools and tidbits we had on the old site and they were a wonderful addition to our flying but we need to address the fact that a new generation of flightsim is due out soon and many of our tools are just too old to apply any longer. We will continue to search for the little treasures that make your hobby fun and we will add them as time goes on.

There is much more to come so keep a look out for future developments including, I have it on good authority, some 'Covert Ops' courtesy of Nigel but first we are concentrating on the basics.
