Hi guys,
After a break lasting for several weeks we are back flying continuing with the flights towards Europe. Today we will leave Canada and head over to Iceland. We will start the flight in daylight, but will arrive in darkness which doesn't allow for good pictures.
Nevertheless here is a pictures of the route today.
Unfortunately it was only Stefaan and me joining the MP Session, but Dave showed up on Teamspeak to say hello and announcing a flight for the Football Charters we have in progress over at Tradewind Alaska...
So here we are at the ramp at Goose Bay.
We departed with some delay as we expected more pilots to show up, but this didn't happen. At 1724Z I released brakes and taxied to runway 26 for departure.
The runway approach lighting system for runway 26:
Stefaan is now behind me.
And here we go. Good by beautiful Goose Bay
I had created some artificial waypoints to fly a nice circle to intercept the YYR 064 Radial to LOACH.
Intercepting the 064 Radial from YYR.
The cruise flight was uneventful except for some stories about earlier life...
Shortly after top of climb:
The southern tip of Greenland.
Soon the sun will disappear.
Close to top of descend. We had to add 5 minutes to the stop-watch as I started it 5 minutes late
I entered a holding procedure to intercept the localizer for runway 02 as I was a little bit too high and the angle for intercepting the localizer was too steep.
Established on the ILS:
I exited the runway via K-1 whilst Stefaan was on final for runway 02 as well.
I taxied via K-1, E-4, N-4, N-3, N-2 and N-1 to the ramp, whilst Stefaan joined me only via N-3. But first i had to wait for Stefaan to decelerate to taxi speed so I can cross the active runway:
Well, here we are at the ramp after a very interesting flight.
I hope you enjoyed the report as much as we enjoyed the flight.
For the next flight we maybe should set the time back to 1200Z to ensure that we are flying in daylight. This also would make for much better pictures.
Have a great week.
