Hi guys,
Today was our last flight in Alaska so far for the MP Sessions. Next week we will leave for Seattle, but more later...
It would be a shorter flight today and so I decided to ferry the Quest Kodiak to McCarthy and use it today. And it appeared to be a very good decision.
First lets start with a map of the route.
Next a picture of who was joining today: Stefaan showed up without any problems and a few moments later Dave appeared as well:
Then it was time to depart and head for Anchorage.
Nevertheless this is really a nice scenery.
But we had to climb high to about 14000 feet, which I am still doing. Thankfully the visibility was good today. I hate those granite clouds...
Then we arrived at Duffys Tavern and this is not a long runway and it is difficult to approach - even with the Kodiak! First approach was only a low approach and I had to go around due to being too fast and high. The trees in front and at the end of the runway doesn't make things easier at all.
Chistochina was a little bit easier.
Next was Gulkana. Stefaan was approaching the opposite direction, but performed a perfect touch and go before I arrived, so we were clear of each other.
Then came the remainder of the flight without any touch and goes for me, although Stefaan did a touch and go at Palmer later on.
Dave and Stefaan behind me:
A bit of IFR flying (I Follow Road). Stefaan had a bit different IFR flying, but I am sure he will let you all know in his post...
Different scenery obviously as Stefaan melted with the terrain.
Palmer.
Closing in to Anchorage and Elmendorf AFB just ahead of me.
And crossing almost mid-field.
Merrill (PAMR).
After approaching and landing on runway 25R I taxied to the TCAA ramp, which we share with FedEx.
Quick line up with Stefaan.
Next week we will depart Anchorage and head down South for Seattle. In preparation for this flight I departed Stevens Airport and left for Elmendorf AFB as the aircraft which I will take on this flight is currently there...
No, it is none of these.
I hope to see you all again next Saturday.
