For the third leg of this journey I have to cross 656 nm, and I took the opportunity to use my brand new Britten Norman BN-2 Islander.
This is a Flight1 release, and just like their PC12, this aircraft proved to be a very good handling aircraft that flies nicely by hand, although ofcourse quite a bit slower in cruise than the PC12 :-)
Overview of the trip:
Getting ready to leave Alice Springs
... via runway 17
and in no time we were airborne climbing to our cruise altitude of 5.500 ft for some scenic viewing...
After a few hours flying and leaving 'the red' behind, we arrive over the 'greener' southern part of the continent.
Here we're passing Brooker.
And after a good 4 1/2 hours of flying we arrived at Port Lincoln, the airport ahead and the city itself located near the peninsula in the distance
We headed out over the water to make our approach to runway 01
Nice beaches...
....and on final...
We're leaving the runway at the first available 'not hardened' exit
Port Lincoln is not a specific addon airport for FTX Australia but, like so many others, an enhanced one in the general AU package.
And I'd say it's definitely well done for that matter.
Total block to block time: 4 hours 53 minutes
Flown using:
Microsoft Flight simulator X
Flight1 Britten Norman BN-2 Islander
Active Sky 2012 for weather
Scenery: FTX/Orbx AU + YBAS
