Here we go again for another MP Session. Unfortunately Pär didn't join us as he had some health issues again, but hopefully he will be able to join us next weekend again. Get well soon, mate!
Todays flight took us from Le Rozelier to St. Dizier Robinson AB. And for the time being I decided to take the trusty Focke Wulfs into the hangers and use a more powerful and modern aircraft. I used the VRS F/A-18E 'Superbug', or better known as 'Super Hornet'.
Having stated this to the guys prior to the Session, Stefaan decided to take his trusty F-111 'Aardvark'. Very good decision, but the runway might be a little bit short for takeoff... Not only for him, but for me as well.
Well, here we are at the ramp getting ready for departure.
With the F/A-18 being able to fold the wings I tried to give way to Stefaan to enter the turning pad for runway 10, but he decided to use the grass instead. OooooKaaaay
Sorry for posting so many pictures only taken out of the cockpit, but the F/A-18 needs to be flown from the cockpit... In some manners the FW's were easier to fly!
Final approach to Metz-Nancy/Lorraine (LFJL). Now it starts to get out of control I had configured my throttle with some commands for the F/A-18E like gear, auto-throttle, takeoff trim setting and print screen.
During touch down it started to get out of control as I was engaging the wrong switches for the go-around and so it happened that I raised the gear and then was not able to climb, as I set the auto-throttle system back to approach thrust, which doesn't let you pick up speed so quickly even if you hit the afterburners. Still much to learn.
After some time we were already on approach to Frescaty AB (LFSF).
After departure from Frescaty AB I decided to get behind Stefaan to test the radar in MP, and locked on to his F-111. I didn't shoot! I swear!
After my touch and go at Bourscheid Army (LFQP) I was circling the airfield and Stefaan cam in for his touch and go:
Final approach to Strasbourg Entzheim (LFST).
Up, up and away we go!
Well, what should I tell you? This airfield (Remomeix, LFGY) was much easier to approach than Metz-Nancy Pär stated in his briefing that this airfield would be very tricky. No it wasn't!
Burners are kicked in and climbing out once more.
After my touch and go at Mirecourt (LFSG) I climbed out and set course to Robinson AB as Stefaan mentioned after his touch and go that his FSX was no longer responding and that he would have to reboot. OK, no problem I would orbit return and orbit here.
After over 1.5 hours we arrived at Robinson AB at St. Dizier. I am taxiing to the apron whilst Stefaan is rolling out.
Some of the aircraft shelters around here.
His airbase seems to have a different altitude...
Well, I'm off to the officers casino for the happy hour
I hope to see you all back next Saturday and bear in mind that we are now on DST which means that the next session is scheduled for 17:00Z and not 18:00Z!
Have a great week.
