TDS Next Generation NG AI PACKAGE for FS9

(including Beta scenery files)

We are pleased to offer this AI package which we hope will add to the atmosphere and enhance your flying pleasure

Please note that all original copyrights apply and that AI facilities in FS9 and texture mapping in some aircraft used for AI is limited compared to full user flyable aircraft. In particular FDEs are often not very refined and some aircraft (particularly low polygon versions) do not have independant texturing on both sides of the fuselage therefore some compromise must be accepted. Framerates will vary.

The package is representative only and does not reflect the full timetable.

It features 4flights (18 legs) between 4 locations by 4 aircraft types.

Flight numbers have been randomised to keep them apart from any flights the user might be making.

All of that said I'm sure that you will get pleasure from this package.

Installation:

Inside the zip you will have found 4folders :-

'Docs' folder

Which you are reading from now.

'For your FS folder' folder

Contains the aircraft, the effects, the Traffic_TDS_NG.bgl file, afcad files and additional scenery files for use with IWI scenery.

N.B. I have included as an option a tweaked AI_PLAYR.DLL module file which will increase AI taxi speed to a more realistic 32kts - back up your original first.

NOTE:

There are two versions of afcad files, those in the 'Addon Scenery- Default' folder are for use with the default MS scenery ONLY and will add the basic afcads and ATC only.

Those in the 'Addon Scenery- for IWI' folder are for use with the payware 'Islands of the West Indies' (IWI) series ONLY, each are differently located.

NB. You must only use one of the above sets dependent on which scenery you have installed. If you are using just the free IWI Curacao scenery with default or any other scenery then you should try using the default afcads but with the AF2_TDS1 - IWI.bgl instead of the AF2_TDS1_default.bgl file.

Don't forget this is floatplane AI which is less controllable but very much worth the effort.

The afcads will give you 4 'new' dock landing areas. all in the correct locations for transfer to your own FS9 folder.

These landing areas are :-

TDS1 - Willemstad Harbour - 125.1

TDS2 - Aruba Harbour - 127.4

TDS3 - Bonaire Harbour - 128.7

TDS4 - Grand Rogue Harbour, El Gran Roque, Venezuela - 126.1

In addition there are some dummy locations.

Once the afcads are installed you will find the locations in Flightsim, in the 'Go to Airport' tab using the TDSx format.

ATC is set up with full facilities as these locations are quite close to Airports and this provides better coordination between controllers. If you prefer perhaps only 'Traffic' reporting then change the ATC type in AFCAD. Similarly feel free to modify the afcads to suite the scenery that you are using if different from those included. See the seperate Guide to floatplane afcads. They have been created using AFCAD v2.

Beta scenery

Additionally for use only with IWI installed is TDS specific EZ scenery (courtesy of Len Hickman) and facilities to be found in the 'For your FS folder\Addon Scenery- for IWI' folder. Copy all the contents to your Addon Scenery folder then make sure that the 'Static Objects Library' folder Woodys Piers and Lens_EZ_wilderness folders are all activated in Flightsim.

N.B. The Tradewind Terminals (available at the scenery page) supersede these file so you might prefer to create your own scenery although the included files should work. More work is definitely needed on this but you will have TDS AI with this package.

There are some additional scenery objects included but for them to be seen you will need to have installed the following Rwy12 libraries :

FS9 General Buildings > Rwy12_lib1_v1.2.zip

FS9 Airport Buildings and Facilities > Rwy12_lib1_v1.2.zip

Margarita Air T Lucas > Rwy12_lib1_v1.2.zip

JohnPatch_objects_1 > Rwy12_lib3_v1.2.zip

JohnPatch_objects_2 > Rwy12_lib3_v1.2.zip

These are all available at Avsim. You should follow the instructions in those files.

I have included EZ-Scenery files in this package.

'Editvoicepack import files' folder

Contains files to import to FS9 using the Editvoicepack program and is highly recommended. Editvoicepack is free and will give you full location specific ATC at all four locations and your TDS aircraft will use the 'Seabirds' radio callsign.

'AI source files'

The source-files folder contains the aircraft_TDS.txt, airports_TDS.txt and flightplans_TDS.txt files that were used with TTools v2 by Lee Swordy to complile the Traffic bgl. Feel free to modify these if you want to. There are many free utilities available to view the timetables in detail. I use AITM. These are not needed for the AI to work.

Don't forget that you can view and follow AI aicraft using Traffic Explorer included in the traffic SDK from Microsoft. Where appropriate reverse thrust sounds have been implemented on these aircraft.

Useful AI utilities:

AI Contrail generator 1.0.0.1 made by Markus Brunner in the AVSIM library is very useful. The program scans every installed aircraft of FS2004 for the "Contrail" entry. If no entry is found it adds a selectable effect to the aircraft file. Also the "max_contrail_temperature" value would be set.

FS Aircraft Typer - FSAT by Janosoft is also very useful. It allows you to make AI aircraft invisible to the FS Aircraft select menu and speeds up FS loading time.

If you suffer from too many AI flights going missed then try FS2004 Flight Simulator AISmooth by SG-Flightware (Michael Sagner)

AISmooth will reduce the number of go-arounds of AI traffic at your airport drastically. aismooth_v111a.zip
